When it comes to interior decor, Maison Corbeil is always a must. The company was founded in 1973 by Raymond Corbeil and his wife, Colette, a pioneering businesswoman still actively involved in running the company. She is, however, very pleased that her two sons have chosen to take over when the time comes. Equal parts charm and determination, Colette Corbeil maintains that the brand owes its success to her and her late husband’s individual areas of operations: he oversaw administration, she was responsible for purchasing and store design. “We each held down our own fort, and the same is true now for our sons. We’re supported by an excellent team. I worked very hard for a very long time, and now I’m having a lot of fun. People tell me everything is beautiful, and it makes me happy,” says Colette.
For over 40 years, Maison Corbeil has maintained a sharp eye for furniture trends and developed departments to please a variety of tastes. But lately, Colette Corbeil had been inkling to reintroduce a high-end line of European products. Introducing: the “Colette” collection, recently launched in the Montreal store. The pieces Corbeil has chosen come mainly from Italian manufacturers, such as Calia Italia and Flou, whose reputation for design and quality construction is already well established. “Italians are passionate about their furniture, and their products are both contemporary and timeless. These are pieces people will keep for a very long time,” notes Colette. Warm woods, supple leathers, marble-lookalike ceramics, soft velvet and other gorgeous materials are the highlights of this impeccably elegant collection.
